“On December 3, 2005, I made the decision to take charge of my life and take a closer look at the RESET program. I said to myself, ‘What better time to start the program than during the holiday season?’ (See before/after pictures above) First, you RESET your life with the 5-day RESET program, followed by the maintenance phases, which are the most important parts. I have lost 41 pounds and I’m still counting.”*

“I am so trilled to have lost 60 pounds from September 2004 to March 2005. Just by starting my day with a Nutrimeal shake, I have kept those pounds off. This week I started back on RESET and am working on my next 60 pounds. I feel great and have so much energy. And I love the new exercise DVD. Thank you, USANA!”*

Men & Women Speedskating Teams Finish Games in Style
From our POWerful Bodies series
Canadian women’s speedskater Clara Hughes took home the gold medal in the 5,000 meter speedskating race. Her teammate Cindy Klassen, claimed the bronze medal in the same race. This race win makes the fifth medal earned for Klassen and the second medal win for Hughes at the Torino Games.
Clara Hughes was dubbed “Mother Clara” by reporters who interviewed her after a press conference last week. That’s because not only did Clara bring home gold for Canada but she also donated $10,000 to an organization called Right to Play. This charity provides sports equipment to children in the Third World.
Her teammate Cindy Klassen was proud of her too. "She's worked so hard to come this far," Klassen added. "She's put so much heart into the sport. I'm just really glad she won the gold. She really deserves it. She's so happy right now, it's unbelievable."*
The men’s team also showed exceptional results as Francois-Louis Tremblay took home the silver medal in the 500 meter short track race while the men’s team pursuit team took home a silver in the 5,000 meter short track race. Team members include Eric Bedard, Jonathan Guilmette, Charles Hamelin, Francois-Louis Tremblay, and Mathieu Turcotte.
USANA Health Sciences, the Official Supplier of nutritional supplements to the Canadian Speedskating team, would like to extend our warmest congratulations to these athletes for their amazing performance at the Torino Games!

Oh Boy! Soy!

Soy Protein benefits the heart in healthy young men
From our POWerful Bodies series

Although previous research has shown that soy protein can reduce risk factors for heart disease, few studies have involved healthy male subjects. New research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition studied the cardiovascular benefits of soy protein on healthy young men.

Male participants with an average age of 28, consumed milk protein isolate, low-isoflavone soy protein isolate and high-soy protein isolate for 57 days each. The different supplements were given randomly, each separated by a one- month break, to insure the sequence didn't influence the findings. Blood samples were collected at the beginning and end of each treatment period. Ratios of total cholesterol to HDL ("good") cholesterol, and LDL ("bad") cholesterol to HDL were significantly lower with both soy protein supplements, compared to the milk protein supplement.

In healthy young men, soy protein influences blood cholesterol ratios in a direction beneficial for the heart.
